Ohyez! Ohyez! A Few Changes of Note…
In response to customer demand, which has been fantastic I must say, we’re introducing a few changes. First off, coils are cheap but awkward to handle. So we’re moving to using spools for our default sales. Currently these will be made of recyclable cardboard and plastic. They have a relatively thin central hole in the core so you can just rest them on a piece of broomstick and they’ll feed a reprap perfectly.
Okay, so spools cost money. You can have rolls without if you want them still. However there is another good reason to want the spools: We’re putting 1kg of filament on a spool. Yup, people want to buy it by the kilo, we’ll sell it by the kilo. A kilo spool is like the old 100m roll, but with 25% more filament. Same PLA, same manufacturing process, just a bit bigger.
We’ll be changing the names of the colours too; we inherited colour names from previous batches of pigment that were named by an admirer of some fine and outstanding Japanese motorcycle companies. As we are moving into markets new, where some litigious types lurk, we thought it best to strategically rename things after fruits and gems to avoid any potential confusion. Let’s just hope nobody trademarks anything named after a fruit. I mean, that’d be really silly, eh? ❍
